I wanted to give a perfect illustration of just how fast someone can become a victim or choose to take a stand. Last Friday night in Columbia SC, two men entered a crowded barber shop, one with a handgun and one with a shotgun, in an attempt to rob the shop and the customers. There were women and children present, with a small child in one of the barber chairs. When the robbers were not paying attention, a customer in one of the barber chairs and the barber, drew concealed weapons and were able to stop the threat to all involved. My point in bringing this up is that a recent study showed that Americans are more concerned for their personal safety now than at any point since October of 2001, right after the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. I cannot tell you how many people approach me about CWP classes and then never really find the time to take the class and get the permit.
Don’t let apathy or procrastination allow you to end up in a situation where you are forced to defend yourself. Hopefully we all wear our seatbelt all the time. When we do, we don’t put it on imagining that we will get into a wreck. But if you do happen to get into a wreck, that simple step of putting on your seatbelt could save your life. Get the hint?
