Is a Concealed Weapon Permit right for you?
“Law enforcement experts say disparate factors are at play in different cities, though no one is claiming to know for sure why murder rates are climbing. Some officials say intense national scrutiny of the use of force by the police has made officers less aggressive and emboldened criminals, though many experts dispute that theory.” - http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/murder-rates-rising-sharply-in-many-us-cities/ar-AAdOven?ocid=spartandhp
Regardless of the reasons it may make sense to take a concealed weapons permit course so that you have the ability to legally carry a concealed weapon should you ever have the need or want to do so. Carrying a concealed weapon in SC without the proper training and permit is a felony. As I told a female realtor that often shows houses to strangers with little more proof of identity than a photocopy of their driver’s license, “You don’t have to carry all the time, but if you know that you are going to be in an unfamiliar or more crime prone area of town after dark, it would do a lot for your peace of mind to know that you had protection with you and that you knew how to use it.”
Just this past weekend in North Charleston a man entered a Waffle House and attempted an armed robbery. I say attempted because a patron of the restaurant happened to be a Concealed Weapons Permit holder and was armed. Fearing for his own life and the lives of others, the permit holder was able to use his concealed weapon to stop the threat and possibly save lives.
